Every day is a Day to Give Thanks

“Be thankful for what you have; you’ll end up having more. If you concentrate on what you don’t have, you will never, ever have enough.”
– Oprah Winfrey

Today is Thanksgiving. It’s a day where most Americans will gather around a table with family and enjoy a feast. We are supposed to share our thanks and honor the day with gratitude. I think that it’s great that we have a day that we spend with the people that we love. The holidays can bring stress for some people and depression to those that don’t have family to spend the day with. I invite everyone to shift into gratitude. Every day is Thanksgiving. You can be thankful for all that you have every single day of your life.

If you think about it, gratitude is easy when everything is going your way. You have no problem finding things to be grateful for when you have money in your pocket, your relationship is going great and you’re happy with your career. When you really know if you can be grateful is when nothing is going the way you expected. It is the moments that test you that define you. If in your darkest moments, you can find a way to be grateful than you can overcome anything.

The first step to changing your life is a shift into gratitude. What you focus on magnifies. If you focus on being grateful for all you have, you will attract more into your life. If you focus on what you don’t have or lack, you invite lack into your life. You may even lose things to maintain lack in your life. No matter where you are in your life, find something that you are grateful for.

The funny thing about it is when you shift into gratitude, you will find more and more things to be grateful for. The way you see life will change and you will see the things to be grateful for as fast as you see the problems. Life is not as bad as we think it is. There is something you have that someone else is wishing for. It’s easy to think that everyone else is happier, but that may not be the truth. Everyone has something to deal with. We all have to go through our own trials to get to where we need to be in life. Do not convince yourself that everyone else is happier than you.

So, after you enjoy the Turkey and fixings, try to keep the gratitude going. Make it a regular practice in your life. On a daily basis, find at least one thing to be grateful for. It may be the people around the table. It might be the food on the table or it may be that you even have a table. There is always something in your life that you can be grateful for. Every day is Thanksgiving.

“Develop an attitude of gratitude, and give thanks for everything that happens to you, knowing that every step forward is a step toward achieving something bigger and better than your current situation.”- Brian Tracy

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
