Do You Want to Let Go of Worry?

I have a tendency to worry about things that are out of my control. Worrying does nothing to make the situation better and does everything to make me feel bad. When I think about all the troubles in the past, they have always worked out. I decided that I needed to trust that things will always work out in my favor.

So, a thought popped in my head. What if I visualized my life as a business? What if I was the C.E.O of my life? It may sound silly, but it worked for me. This past weekend, I called a meeting. In this meeting, I invited in stress, resistance, and fear.

I said, “Stress, resistance and fear. First, let me tell you that I appreciate how hard you all have worked for me up until now. You’ve shown up everyday and have been truly dedicated to what I communicated to you that I needed. We are starting a new project. This new project is not going to require your services. I’ve pulled in love, motivation and fearlessness and they can handle this new project. I don’t want you to think of this as a bad thing. I want you guys to take a vacation. I want you to relax. I’m going to need you at other times. You will be on call until then and work on a more temporary basis.

Right now, for what I’m trying to do, I don’t need stress, fear and resistance. Instead, I need love, motivation and fearlessness to get this job done. They’ve been on vacation for all these years. I didn’t think I could use them, but now I am giving you guys some time off. So, take a nice lengthy vacation. I will call on you when I need you. Thank you again for your service.”

My body immediately melted after I carried out this mental meeting. I haven’t felt as much worry about how things are going to work out. It’s helped me to think that everything I need will come to me and that my mind is working for my benefit. Maybe, you can see your thoughts as employees who are working for the common goal of your happiness. If so, it might be time to let go of those thoughts that are standing in the way of success. If you don’t need to let them go, maybe it’s time to retrain them and nurture them until they are working towards the common goal again.
