How to Find Out if Your Thoughts Are Working Against You

I believe that your mind is constantly creating your environment through your conscious and subconscious thoughts. The mystery for me was how to identify your subconscious thoughts. I know that one great way is meditation. I am still getting used to meditating on a daily basis and I’ve realized that my mind is like a super-highway.  As I was researching, I came across muscle testing or applied kinesiology. Muscle testing measures the electrical impulses within your own body as a feedback mechanism.

There are multiple ways to do muscle testing, but I used the one from the blog post, “How to Get Answers to Almost Anything Using Muscle Testing.”

This version of muscle testing uses the thumb and forefinger.

  • Hold your thumb and forefinger on one hand as if you are making the “OK” sign
  • With your opposite hand, create another “OK” sign, but interlock it with the thumb and forefinger of your other hand.
  • When you ask yourself a question, pull the interlocked fingers as if you are trying to pull them apart.
  • If you are able to pull them apart, the muscle response is “weak” which means NO.
  • If you are unable to pull them apart, the muscle  response is “strong” which mean YES.

*Click the link to see picture demonstrations or search for muscle testing for more information. Make sure that you are not dehydrated, sleepy or depleted while doing these tests.

Before you begin asking yourself questions, you should test it out.

Ask : Is my name…? Use your real name. (The muscles should be strong and you should be unable to pull your fingers apart)

Ask: Is my name..? Make up a fake name. (The muscles should be weak and you should be able to pull your fingers apart easily)

Now, make yourself comfortable and focus on being honest. Make sure that you are allowing your body to respond as it is supposed to respond. Be open to the response.

You have to ask “Yes” or “No” questions, but you can ask anything that you like to begin to understand your subconscious. If you can be honest, you may begin to understand that there are subconscious thoughts that are running in the back of your mind and they may be working against the very thing that you say you want.

Here’s an example:

You can say, “I want to be rich. I want to win the lottery and I want to enjoy my life.”

Muscle testing questions:

Do I believe I can win the lottery?

Do I believe that I deserve to be rich?

Do I believe that I can ever enjoy my life?

Do I believe that I have to work for everything I get?

Ask yourself these type of questions and see what your subconscious believes. You might be buying the ticket and thinking that you can win, but your mind is working against you in making it a reality.

It is difficult to know the truth, but it is the first step to change. If you want to manifest the things in your life that will make you happy, you have to know what negative beliefs are preventing it. You can use this technique for any question you have about your life. You can ask questions about relationships, people and even jobs. You can figure out your subconscious thoughts about any and everything in your life. Your body won’t lie to you. Once you acknowledge what you really think, you can figure out why and begin to change your thoughts.

If our subconscious was attractive, we wouldn’t have to bury it down deep within us. – Doug Coupland
